Our Bike Ed programme has started today. We met the leaders of the sessions and got to know eachother. A lot of the time was spent looking at safety of bikes and helmets today and discussion about riding bikes.
Our leaders were Darren, Sam and Jurgen.
Children had a chance to look at their bikes and had them serviced by the leaders while we had a class discussion. We looked at the type of bikes there are. We also looked at the guidelines for our bike ed sessions and what the expectation is.
Children had the opportunity to do some riding of their bikes on the tennis courts and around the school.
It was a great session to start with.
Week 2 of Bike Ed saw a focus on servicing your bike a little and about gears and how they work. The classes then went out and practiced riding around the school using gears. It has been great to see the skills of experienced rider and also the improvement by those who aren't familliar with bikes.
