Calculator Fish

As part of the Unit of Inquiry learning at home activities, calculator fish has been one of the choices. While it has been played at school we thought it would be valuable to put the rules up for everyone see. The game is very similar to regular fish. It is best played with 3 or more players.
On a calculator type in a 3 digit number where each digit is different. eg 367 or 295 etc.
Don't show your number to anyone.
Now start asking have you got a..... any number you want that is a single digit.
If they haven't got it, go fish.
If they have got the number then they need to give it up.
Here's how it goes
Player One has the number 273
Player Two has the number 516

P1 starts and ask if they have a 4. P2 responds with go fish.
P2 asks if P1 has a 7. P1 says yes and it is in the 10's
P2 adds 70 to their number making a new number of 586
P1 subtracts 70 from their number, creating a new number of 203
This continues until one player is zeroed out.

It is great for place value  understanding and can be extended to use larger numbers.
